If you believe that the environmentalists wackos, who demanded that we drill nowhere for oil, dig nowhere for coal, or do nothing to clean up coal energy, have nothing to do with today’s high gas prices, you might be a commie pinko.
In a market economy, availability directly affects price. The easier it is to get a commodity, usually the cheaper it is. The environmentalist wackos have succeeded in limiting our access to oil with their campaigns to limit offshore drilling and drilling on public lands.
“The “everywhere versus nowhere” trap results when aggressive energy developers demand the unconstrained right to drill everywhere while environmental extremists assert that drilling can occur nowhere. This is the stalemate we currently have in the United States, with disastrous consequences. Emotion trumps science. Regulation blocks innovation. And sound methods of achieving energy independence are overlooked and underdeveloped. And gas prices go up, up, up.”
